Do we see the content of your files?

1 min read

No, never. Your file's SHA-256 fingerprint is computed in your browser, directly on your machine. Only 32 bytes are then sent to Ipocamp — a string of characters from which it's impossible to reconstruct the original content.

Neither the file's content, nor its name, nor a preview ever leaves your computer at any point during the deposit.

This is the founding principle of the service: a file doesn't need to be transmitted to be reliably dated.
